SWISS presents attractive winter timetable

Swiss International Air Lines will operate more intercontinental flights as of the new winter timetable, the increase made possible by the integration of two additional Airbus A330 aircraft into the fleet in November and December. As under the summer timetable, SWISS will serve 69 destinations in winter (27 intercontinental and 42 in Europe) in 42 countries. Another 14 destinations will be served directly from Zurich in codeshare operation with various partners. The winter timetable is valid from October 29, 2006, until March 24, 2007.

SWISS is on the rise and will gradually expand its fleet by next spring. With two more Airbus A330 aircraft added to the fleet, SWISS is able to increase the number of flights it operates on existing intercontinental routes and thereby offer customers more attractive connections between Zurich and North and South America, Africa and the Middle East.

From December SWISS will operate a daily service to Miami (previously five times weekly), which gives customers greater flexibility in planning their travel. SWISS will expand service to Santiago de Chile via Sao Paulo from five to six times weekly. Service to Saudi Arabia - via Riyadh to Jeddah - will be increased from three to four times weekly.

In Africa SWISS will again have its own aircraft in operation, replacing the leased-in aircraft with an Airbus A330 as of mid-November. Nairobi and Dar es Salaam will be served five times weekly (previously three times weekly).

Switzerland - Germany 580 times weekly

SWISS will offer two new routes in partnership with Lufthansa: Geneva-Hamburg and Geneva-Stuttgart. Cross-border flights are another way in which customers benefit from the cooperation between SWISS and Lufthansa. Together, the two partners now offer 580 flights weekly between Switzerland and Germany, with ideal connections to destinations within Europe and overseas.

A total of 14 additional destinations are served under codeshare agreements with other partners.

As announced earlier, due to its integration into Star Alliance SWISS is terminating its codeshare agreement with American Airlines. As a result the non-stop service to Dallas will no longer be offered.

Flights operated on behalf of SWISS

Privat Air will continue to perform Boeing Business Jet flights on behalf of SWISS to New York (Newark). These flights will operate daily except Saturday. The agreements with Darwin (Bern-London City and Zurich-Lugano) and Cirrus (Zurich-Nürnberg and Zurich-Stuttgart) will remain in effect.

To stabilise the European timetable, SWISS will lease in a Helvetic Airways Fokker 100 for the coming winter months (October 29 to February 28. This aircraft will be mainly deployed on the Zurich-Manchester route.

SWISS Terminal becomes third Star Alliance terminal

With the introduction of the new winter timetable more Star Alliance partner airlines will move into the SWISS Terminal at Zurich Airport, which becomes home to the third Star Alliance terminal, after the ones at Paris and Tokyo.

Customers of the following airlines will be able to check in at the SWISS Terminal from the end of October: SWISS, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, United Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, TAP Air Portugal, Spanair, Adria, Croatia and Blue 1. For capacity reasons South African Airways, Singapore Airlines, Thai International Airlines and Air Canada will remain at Terminal 2 for the time being.

Fleet as of 2006/2007 winter timetable

For the winter timetable period SWISS operates a fleet of 69 of its own aircraft (compared to 67 during summer 2006). Of this figure, 45 aircraft (seven A319, fourteen A320, four A321, eleven A330 and nine A340 aircraft) are operated by Swiss International Air Lines. The eleven A330s include the two that will enter commercial service in November and December. The other 24 aircraft are Avro RJ 85/100s operated by subsidiary Swiss European Air Lines.
