| United Airlines The top American
airline is said to have began its days in the 1920s when it flew the first
Contract Air Mail flight in a Swallow biplane from Idaho to Washington.
Since then, it has seen its names and ownerships change with the flux and
flow of the aviation industry.
In 1927, the airline became a part of William Boeing’s Boeing Air
Transport airline and experienced a change that saw it become a carrier not
just for mail, but also for passengers.
Since then, United Airlines has not looked back. It is seen to be one of
the most influential and innovative airlines in the world. It is not only
the first airline to offer a serviced passenger flight with an ‘air
stewardess’, but also flew the first 2-stop around-the-world flight and
co-founded one of the top global networks – Star Alliance.
Such innovations in the aviation industry has led the airline to become
one of the best respected in the world. It has challenged and tested the
reach of air travel and has assisted in giving travel the status it holds
today.
Despite their history as a prominent figure in aviation, United Airlines
has not become lax in the way that it operates and serves their passengers.
As the airline says in its customer commitment statement: “United employees
around the world are committed to ensuring you and your loved ones enjoy
safe, seamless travel and superior customer service every time you fly with
us.”
They outline the way that they achieve this mission statement with a
12-point commitment plan. This plan provides insight into the framework of
United Airlines’ operations. It covers things such as lowest fare available,
their policy on delays, cancellations and diversions, their commitment to
special needs, their plan to fully disclose all travel itineraries,
cancellation policies, frequent flier rules and aircraft configuration and
many more important factors that make a flight more safe and comfortable for
a passenger.
With its fleet of both Boeing and Airbus aircraft, United Airlines serves
the far reaches of the globe with an offering of consistent and reliable
services to their passengers. It is an airline that has embedded itself into
the world’s aviation history and will continue to be a highly valued airline
for many years to come. |
